Matt Gordy is in his 14th season as an assistant coach for the UW-La Crosse men's track & field team in 2024-25. A native of Whitewater, Wisconsin, Gordy was a nine-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III qualifier at UWL. He earned four career NCAA III All-America honors, including three at the 2011 outdoor championships. Gordy was third in the 100-meter dash and seventh in the 200-meter dash while being a member of the third-place 4x100-meter relay. He earned NCAA III Indoor All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the 55-meter dash in 2010.
A member of three national championship teams, Gordy was a four-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Team selection.
Gordy was a 14-time scorer at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships. He won the 55-meter dash at the 2008 WIAC Indoor Championships while placing second in the 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the 2009 indoor meet. At the WIAC Outdoor Championships, Gordy finished second in the 100-meter dash in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011. He was also a member of the second-place 4x100-meter relay at the 2008 and 2011 WIAC Outdoor Championships. He was a WIAC Scholar-Athlete nominee.
He earned his undergraduate degree from UWL in English education in 2011 and is currently in the student affairs administration in higher education master's degree program at UWL. Gordy, a USTFCCCA Level 1 certified coach, is the career development coordinator in career services at UWL.
