Kathy McInerney completed her 10th year as the athletics office manager in 2020-21. She joined the intercollegiate athletics department after working in the exercise and sport science department as the academic department associate from 2008-11. McInerney started working for the State of Wisconsin in April, 2001, with the Department of Corrections, Division of Community Corrections in La Crosse.
A Coulee Region native, McInerney served in the United States Navy. She was stationed at Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida, assigned to HS-1 (Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron One) as an aviation structural mechanic. McInerney was honorably discharged (AMS2).
McInerney and her husband, John, have two sons, Zach and Joe.
