Jon Larson is in his ninth season as an assistant coach at UWL in 2025, working with the kickers, punters, long snappers and holders. He is credited with coaching 10 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selections.Â
Michael Stack was named the 2023 WIAC Co-Special Teams Player of the Year while earning all-conference first team honors. Ryan Krueger was voted to the 2023 All-WIAC Honorable Mention Team. Stack earned 2023 Associated Press (AP) and D3football.com All-America First Team honors and D3football.com All-Region 6 First Team. He went 13-of-15 in field goal attempts and 65-of-65 in extra-points during the season. One of 10 finalists for the 2023 Fred Mitchell Award, presented to the top placekicker for excellence on the football field and community service, Stack tied the single-season school record of 13 field goals by Chris Schumacher in 1989.Â
He had four different games with at least two field goals made. Stack was selected the WIAC Special Teams Player of the Week four times. He converted the game-winning 51-yard field goal on the final play in UWL's 37-34 victory at third-ranked UW-Whitewater, tying a school record. Stack's 65 extra-points broke Ryan Beirne's single-season school record of 49 in 2021.Â
Krueger averaged 39.7 yards per punt this season with five inside the 20-yard line.Â
Michael Pakos was named to the second team all-conference team as a kicker in 2017 while punter Sean Parker earned honorable mention accolades. Parker also picked up second team honors in 2018, honorable mention in 2019 and first team in 2021. Long snapper Connor Wears was selected to the 2019 All-WIAC Honorable Mention Team. Beirne was voted to the 2022 All-WIAC First Team with long snapper Sawyer Schick being named to the second team.Â
Prior to coaching at UWL, Larson was the assistant coach at La Crosse (Wis.) Central High School from 2006-15. He served as Viroqua (Wis.) High School head football coach from 2003-05 after being an assistant coach from 2001-02.Â
Larson is currently a physical education teacher for the La Crosse (Wis.) School District. He and his wife, Tammy, have two children, Emily and Jacob.Â
