Jenna Matz (Swails) begins her 15th season as an assistant coach at UW-La Crosse in 2026-27.

2025-2026
  • Helped lead the Eagles to a NCGA National Runner-up finish.
  • Assisted in coaching Paige Breckwoldt to an NCGA Vault National Title
  • Five Eagles earned NCGA All-America honors including Breckwoldt (vault, floor), Lainey Vogt (balance beam), Lauren Main (balance beam), Claire Robbins (floor) and Grace Edwards (floor).
  • Madelyn McCormick was named a Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Second Team All-American.
  • Eagles finished third at the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional
2024-2025
  • Helped coach the Eagles to the program’s 18th NCGA National Championship.
  • The Eagles won three individual national championships including Grace Kehr on the vault and Jess Taylor on the floor exercise while Riana Christenson Claire Robbins and Kyla Dickson shared the title on the balance beam.
  • Finished second at the WIAC Championships and NCGA West Regionals.
  • Raina Christenson was named a WCGA Second Team All-American
2023-2024
  • Finished third as a team at NCGA National Championships.
  • Six Eagles earned NCGA All-America honors including Rachel Chesley (Vault, Bars), Claire Robbins (beam), Sarah Best (beam), Caelen Lansing (floor) and Jessica Taylor (floor).
  • Chesley became the 19th student-athlete in school history to earn the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete.
  • Finished third at the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional.
  • Assisted in coaching Claire Robbins who was named WIAC Newcomer of the Year
2022-2023
  • Eagles finished second at the NCGA National Championships.
  • Helped coach Rachel Chesley to an individual national championship on the uneven bars.
  • Eight Eagles earned NCGA All-America honors including Chesley (3x), Madi Vanderpool (2x), Kyla Dickson, Kerrie Legault and Lily Millington.
  • Team finished second at the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regionals
  • Helped lead Cate Sandvik to being named WIAC Gymnast of the Year
2021-2022
  • Eagles scored a season high of 192.325 points to finish third at the NCGA National Championships.
  • Helped coach Kerrie Legault to a NCGA National Championship on the uneven parallel bars.
  • Four Eagles earned NCGA All-America honors including Kerrie Legault, Alex Wood, Rachel Chesley and Olivia Opheim.
  • Assisted in coaching Rachel Chesley who was named WIAC Newcomer of the Year
  • Team finished third at the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regionals
Matz Highlight Reel
  • The Eagles have made 11 NCGA National Championship Appearances in Matz’s 14 seasons as an assistant coach. The 2020 and 2021 NCGA Championships were canceled due to the Covid public health threat.
  • During her time on staff, UWL has won three NCGA National Championships (2015, 2016, 2025) while finishing national runner-up five times (2013, 2017, 2018, 2023, 2026)
  • UWL has won three WIAC Championships (2014, 2016, 2018) during Matz’s time on staff.
Collegiate Gymnastics Career
  • Was a four-year letter winner and one-year team captain at UW-La Crosse (2009-2012).
  • Was a member of three NCGA Championship teams (2009, 2010, 2011).
  • Earned three  NCGA All-America honors including two in 2011 and one in 2010.
Personal
  • Earned her bachelor's degree in marketing and graphic design from UWL in 2012. 
  • Earned her master’s degree in information communication technology from UW-Stout.
  • Currently works for Select Custom Solutions in the marketing department.
  • Jenna and her husband, Andy, reside in La Crosse and have two daughters, Brennley and Kalina.
