Eric Kunick serves as UW-La Crosse Assistant Media Relations Director and Coordinator of Camps and Clinics.
Prior to coming to UW-La Crosse, Kunick spent 14 years at Viterbo University (Wis.) where he served in multiple capacities. From 2004-10, he served as the Sports Information Director. He was then promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Events spending four years (2010-14) in this role. During Kunick's 14 years (2006-18) at Viterbo (Wis.), he also was an assistant coach for the women's volleyball program including the final four years as full-time assistant coach.
In his administrative role at Viterbo (Wis.), Kunick oversaw every aspect of the athletic communication and events office. He handled all media relations for the athletic department including website maintenance, statistics, social media, event and team promotion, and media outlet requests. Kunick also served as the events coordinator overseeing concessions, game day programing, staffing and site administration. During his time in these roles, Kunick served as the chair of the Wall of Fame committee, was a member of the administrative team, sat on several coach/staff search committees and provided support for an athletic department that grew from seven sports to 19 sports during his time.
Kunick was a member of a volleyball coaching staff that helped turn a struggling program into national title contender. During his time on the staff, the V-Hawks won six conference titles, five conference tournament titles and made five appearances in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Tournament where they went to three final fours (2014, 2015, 2017) and an elite eight (2012). In his role with the program, Kunick also served as the assistant director and lead coach for the very successful V-Hawk Xtreme volleyball club.
Kunick is very familiar with campus as he earned his Master of Science in Sports Administration from UW-La Crosse in 2007. He earned is undergraduate degree from UW-Eau Claire in Kinesiology-Exercise Management in 2004. During his time at UW-Eau Claire, Kunick served as a student-assistant under College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame member Tim Petermann for five years.
Kunick and his wife, Joya, reside in West Salem with their daughter Zoey.
