Aaron Schmitz

Aaron Schmitz returns as an assistant coach at UWL in 2025, working with the tight ends and also serving as an assistant sports performance coach for the intercollegiate athletics department. He was an assistant coach for the Eagles from December 2024 through March 2025.

Prior to coming back to UWL, Schmitz was the running backs coach at Black Hills State University (S.D.) since March 2025. 

He was an assistant track & field coach at La Crosse (Wis.) Aquinas High School in March-June 2024, working with the sprints and jumps. Schmitz worked as a sports performance coach at Three Rivers Performance Center in La Crosse from May 2023 through October 2024.

Schmitz earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise sport science pre-professional with a minor in nutrition and coaching competitive athletics concentration from UWL in December 2024. He was a four-year member of the football team, serving as team captain in his junior and senior seasons.

A four-year member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Scholastic Honor Roll, Schmitz earned National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-America honors in 2024. He was a member of UWL’s Dean’s List eight semesters and a two-year College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® selection.
