UW-La Crosse is proud to host the 2017 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Wrestling Championships.  The championships are scheduled for March 10-11 at the La Crosse Center.  The two-day event features 180 participants representing approximately 60 schools from across the United States.  This marks the third time UW-La Crosse has hosted the NCAA III Wrestling Championships (2011, 2012, 2017).

The university has hosted several other national competitions, including the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 1986, 1997 and 2013.  UWL will host the 2018 NCAA III Outdoor Championships May 24-26 at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.  The university has hosted the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Division III Championships four times in school history (1989, 1997, 2005, 2015).

UWL hosted the 1995 NCAA III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships and has also served as the host of the 1973, 1976 and 1981 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Gymnastics Championships and the 1965 and 1970 NAIA Men's Swimming Championships.  The university has also hosted numerous games in the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs and matches for the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament.
