Wrestling Competes At University of Dubuque Invite; Win Five Individual Titles

Tanner Gerber went 4-0 on the day to win the 165 pound weight class

Dubuque, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team competed at the Brown Terrell Invite hosted by the University of Dubuque (Iowa) on Saturday.

THE RESULTS

125 - After losing his first match of the day, Grant Madl won three staight matches to finish third at 125 pounds. Madl defeated Luis Lopez (Luther College (Iowa) 19-2 to earn a technial fall in the third place match.
133 - Teague Holzer went 4-0 on the day to win the 133 pound bracket including defeating Jayden Rael of Cornell College (Iowa) 7-2 in the finals. Matt Haldiman won his first two matches of the day before losing to Holzer and finishing third overall. Haldiman finished the day 4-1 and defeated UWL teammate Noah Moltzan 13-4 in the third place match. Moltzan finished his 3-2 overall.
141 - Kaiden Schrandt went 4-0 to with the 141 pound weight class including defeating teammate Marcus McIntyre 7-2 in the finals. McIntyre advanced to the finals by winning his first three matches including beating teammate Jack Krier 5-1 in the semifinal match. Krier finished his day 3-2 overall to finish fourth. Krier lost to Keaton Mayernik of the University of Chicago (Ill.)11-2 in the third place match.
165 - Tanner Gerber and Brett Skaug each won their first three matches to face each other in the championship match. Gerber earned the 15-0 technical fall over Skaug for the 165 pound title.
174 - Jack Gillis went 4-0 on the day to win the title at 174 pounds. In the finals, Gillis defeated Zach Ferm of the Iowa State Wrestling Club by fall (4:00). After a first round bye, Camren Dennee finished his day 2-3 overall. Kash Macumber went 4-1 and finished third overall. Macumber defeated Colin Ruiz of Carthage College (Wis.) 8-5 in the third place match.
184 - Tyler Dormanen went a perfect 4-0 to win the 184 pound title. Dormanen had two falls plus a technical fall to advance to the championship match. Dormanen then defeated Austin Wilkins of Cornell College (Iowa) 4-3 in the championship match.
285 - Gabe Carter finished sixth overall by going 4-3 on the day. Carter lost 11-2 to Paul Ballard (Iowa State Wrestling Club) in the fifth place match.
