Eagles Finish Third at NCGA National Championships; Six Earn All-America Honors

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team finished third at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championships Saturday afternoon at Ursinus College in Philadelphia, Pa. 

2024 NCGA GYMNASTIC CHAMPIONSHIPS BASICS
  • Team Results - UW-Oshkosh defended their 2023 NCGA Championship by scoring 194.975 points while UW-Whitewater finished second with 193.575 points. Finishing in third was UWL with 193.175 points while SUNY Brockport (N.Y.) finished fourth (193.075), UW-Stout fifth (191.625) and SUNY Cortland (N.Y.) sixth (190.925). 
  • Location - Helfferich Hall Gymnasium, Philadelphia, Pa. (hosted by Ursinus College)
  • NCGA All-America: The top eight finishers in each event earns All-America honors. UWL had six Eagles earn NCGA All-America honors on Saturday. Rachel Chesley earned two All-America honors while Sarah Best, Claire Robbins, Caelen Lansing and Jessica Taylor each earned one. 

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
   
VAULT
  • Chesley earned her third NCGA All-America honor on the vault as she finished fourth with a 9.775. 
  • Also finishing in the top ten on the vault was Grace Kehr as she tied for ninth with a 9.700.
    UNEVEN PARALLEL BARS
  • The 2023 NCGA Champion on the uneven parallel bars, Chesley earned her second NCGA All-America honor as she finished fourth with a 9.800.
  • Also earning NCGA All-America honors for the Eagles was Best as she finished tied for sixth with a 9.750. 
    BALANCE BEAM
  • With a 9.800, Robbins tied for fifth on the balance beam to earn her first NCGA All-America honor. 
  • Raina Christenson also finished in the top ten (T-9th) for the Eagles on the beam with a 9.775. 
    FLOOR EXERCISE
  • The Eagles had two gymnasts earn NCGA All-America honors on the floor exercise. Lansing picked up her first career NCGA All America honor with a second place finish. Lansing tied a career high as she scored a 9.875.
  • Taylor earned her first NCGA All-America honor on the floor exercise as she finished tied for seventh with a 9.825.
