Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team earned 17 individual place winners Saturday at the Luther College (Iowa) Open. No team scores were recorded.

Five wrestlers were in the top-three. The Eagles'
Wyatt Magolski (133),
Talan Schutte (141) and
Jack Gillis (174) all placed second.

Magolski went 4-1 in the tournament Saturday. He won by technical fall (15-0) over Liam Stockberger of Luther (Iowa) in the first round followed by a pair of wins by fall. Magolski defeated unattached Tucker Collinsworth by fall (2:11) in the second round and Case Monat of North Iowa Area Community College by fall (3:33) in the quarterfinals. Magolski defeated teammate
Teague Holzer by decision (4-2) in the semifinals before dropping the title match by decision (2-0) to Calvin Singewald of UW-Eau Claire.

Schutte opened with four straight wins in the tournament. He won by fall (1:39) over Colin Roque of Augustana College (Ill.) in the first round. Schutte earned a win by decision (9-6) over Ely Olberding of Southeast Community College (Minn.) in the second round. He had a pair of wins by medical forfeit in the quarterfinals and semifinals before falling to Kyler Romero of Wartburg College (Iowa) in the first-place match by decision (9-7) to go 4-1.

At 174-pounds, Gillis was second with a 3-1 record. He won by no contest over Braxton Janda of Southeast Community College (N.C.) in the first round. Gillis advanced in the quarterfinal with a win by major decision (14-4) over Gunnar Thompson of Loras College (Iowa) followed by a win by fall (6:59) over Hesston Johnson in the semifinals. Johnson was unattached. Gillis finished second after dropping the championship match by decision (8-3) to unattached Leister Bowling.

The Eagles'
Ino Garcia (125) and
Cole Hansen (157) both finished third. Garcia went 3-1 on the day. He received a first round bye and earned a pair of wins by fall in the next two matches, including a fall (4:32) over Cael Morrow of Minnesota State Mankato in the second round. Garcia defeated Leo Edblad of St. Cloud State University (Minn.) by fall (1:49) in the quarterfinals. He lost by decision (10-4) to Dru Ayala of the University of Iowa in the semifinals and placed third with a win by decision (5-0) over Raekwon Shabazz of Wartburg (Iowa).

Hansen went 4-1, opening the tournament with a technical fall (15-0) over Evan Eutsey of Luther (Iowa) in the first round. He won by fall (5:09) over Latravion Agu of Iowa Lakes Community College in the second round and by decision (8-3) over Aden Welcome of Minnesota State Mankato in the quarterfinals. After a loss by sudden victory (4-1) in the semifinals to Joel Jesuroga of St. Cloud State (Minn.), Hansen placed third with a win by decision (5-0) over Colton Bornholdt of St. Cloud State (Minn.).

Tyler Dormanen (184) were fifth. Flege finished 4-1 in the tournament while Draveling and Dormanen each went 5-1.

Noah Moltzan (133) finished sixth and
Kaiden Schrandt (141) seventh with both going 3-2.

Camren Dennee (184) and
Gabe Carter (197) were eighth. Madl went 3-3 on the day with Krier, Dennee and Carter finishing 4-2.
