La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's tennis team opened its 2021-22 season with a 9-0 victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) Wednesday afternoon at Green Island Tennis Park. It marks the 21st consecutive year the Eagles have started the fall season with a dual win.
UWL earned its sixth straight 9-0 victory over Lawrence (Wis.).
Katie Kearney earned the win at No. 5 singles.
UWL swept the three doubles matches to start the dual.

Kellie Hierl defeated Margot Connor/Emma Koppa at No. 1 doubles (8-3) while
Tasha Bailey/
Kaitlyn Kalinka beat Lauren Aturaliya/Chloe Lamb at No. 2 (8-4). The Eagles'
Madeline Kleinke/Sophie Knigge defeated Morgan Fisher/Lizzy Angemi at No. 3 (8-0).
In singles play, Steinert defeated Connor at No. 1 (6-0, 6-1) with Bailey beating Aturaliya at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2) and
Susi Hu defeating Koppa at No. 3 (6-0, 6-3). Kalinka defeated Lamb at No. 4 singles (6-2, 5-7, 10-6),
Katie Kearney beat Fisher at No. 5 (6-0, 6-1) and
Avery Nicholson defeated Angemi at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1).
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 4 at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational at 9 a.m.
