Matthai placed fifth at the NCAA Division III Championships to earn All-America honors and helping guide UWL to its second straight national title. He completed the 8,000-meter course in 23:53.7 in earning his second career NCAA III All-America honor. Matthai placed third last season. He was making his fourth career appearance at the NCAA III Championships.
