Matthai won his second straight WIAC championship on Nov. 1, completing the 8,000-meter course in a league record time of 23:24.5. He broke his own WIAC record of 23:34.5 set last season. Matthai helped lead UWL to the team title and became the first runner in conference history to win back-to-back titles since 2015-16.
