Nygaard won the 200 breaststroke (2:06.32) and placed second in the 100 breaststroke (58.85) as UWL opened its season competing against NCAA Division II schools St. Cloud State University (Minn.) and Truman State University (Mo.) on October 11. He was also on the Eagles' second-place 200 freestyle relay (1:26.08) and fifth-place 200 medley relay (1:37.99).
