Hertel captured the 157-pound title at the NCAA Division III Championships March 10-11 in Roanoke, Virginia. He went 4-0 in the tournament, including a win by decision (6-5) over Tyler Shilson of Augsburg University (Minn.) in the championship match. Hertel is the first wrestler in school history to win the 157-pound national title. He is also the first wrestler to capture an individual crown since Adam Sheley won the 141-pound division in 2013. Hertel helped lead UWL to a fifth-place team finish.
