Schaffer has recorded four top-five individual finishes at the WIAC Swimming & Diving Championships.  He placed fourth (56.93) in the 100 breaststroke and fifth (2:07.18) in the 200 breaststroke at the 2018 league meet.  Schaffer's time of 56.93 in the 100 breaststroke was UWL's top performance of the season.  He was also 12th (4:37.03) in the 400 I.M. at the 2018 WIAC Championships.  In 2017, Schaffer placed fifth in the 100 (57.86) and 200 (2:10.43) breaststroke at the conference meet while also finishing 15th (4:28.30) in the 400 I.M. 

He had a season-best time of 24.01 in the 50 freestyle at the 2019 Cows, Colleges, and Contentment Classic.  Schaffer set three season-bests at the 2019 Rochester (Minn.) Invitational, including the 100 freestyle (50.10), 100 breaststroke (59.02) and 200 breaststroke (2:13.14).
