Murphy was named to the 2019 All-WIAC First Team Defense, starting all 10 games. He led UWL in overall (71), unassisted (43) and tackles for loss (12.0) while tying for the team lead in forced (3) and recovered (3) fumbles. He was third in quarterback sacks (4.0). Recording a season-high 17 tackles at Dickinson State (N.D.) on September 21, Murphy was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Murphy had 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 quarterback sacks and one forced fumble against the Bluehawks. He was voted to the 2018 All-WIAC Honorable Mention Team.
