Box Score Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 67-47 at 16th-ranked UW-Stevens Point Saturday night in Berg Gym. The Eagles drop to 7-9 overall and 1-6 in the WIAC while the Pointers improve to 13-3 overall and 5-2 in the league. UW-Stevens Point is ranked 16th on this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll.
UW-L scored the first five points of the game before UW-Stevens Point went on a 12-0 run. The Pointers never trailed the rest of the game. UW-Stevens Point led 14-7 when UW-L went on a 6-0 run to cut it to 14-13 with 8:59 remaining in the half.
The Eagles tied the game at 18-18 with 6:08 left in the half on
Marina Kneeland's layup, but the Pointers finished the half on a 12-5 run to lead 30-23 at halftime.
UW-Stevens Point led 34-26 with 16:24 remaining when UW-L used a 7-0 run to make it a one-point contest. The Eagles trailed 44-40 with 9:59 left, but the Pointers went on a 6-0 run to lead 50-40 with 6:26 remaining. UW-L could get no closer than eight points at 50-42 as the Pointers ended the game at 17-5 run.
Trisha Van Dusseldorp led UW-L with 12 points while adding six rebounds.
Camille Driscoll finished with nine points while
Maggi Bishop and
Briana Radowicz each had eight. Bishop totaled a team-high nine rebounds.
UW-L shot 34.6% from the field, including 29.4% (five-of-17) from three-point range. The Eagles shot 54.5% (six-of-11) at the free throw line.
Sam Barber led UW-Stevens Point with 25 points while adding seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and four blocks. Myranda Tyler had 15 points.
UW-Stevens Point shot 41.7% from the field, including 31.3% (five-of-16) from three-point range. The Pointers shot 80.0% (12-of-15) at the line.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, January 16 hosting UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
