La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team had five players earn All-Region honors announced on Tuesday by either D3baseball.com or the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings.
Mac Born and
Chris VandenHeuvel earned All-Region honors by both organizations while
George Seaman and
Nate Witte were named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team and
Anthony Vivian was named to the D3baseball.com All-Region Team.
Mac Born, junior of Chaska, MN (H.S.), Infielder, ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Region, D3baseball.com First Team All-Region
- This is the third time Born has earned D3baseball.com All-Region honors and his second time on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region list.
- Born started all 52 games this season, finishing second on the team in multiple categories including batting average (.368), hits (77), home runs (15) and runs batted in (RBI) (65).
- He also finished fourth on the team in runs scored (47) and on base percentage (.435).
- Born had two multi home run games including the Eagles NCAA Regional win over Bethel (MN) where he was 3-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs, two runs scored and a walk.
- Born currently sits first on the all-time home run (45) and RBI (233) list while ranking second all-time in hits (272) and runs scored (177).
- For the third straight season, Born was selected to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) First Team.
George Seaman, junior of Jackson (West Bend East), First basemen, ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Region
- This is Seaman's first time earning all-region honors.
- Seaman played in all 52 games making 51 starts for the Eagles.
- A .322 hitter this season, Seaman led the Eagles with 18 home runs and 74 RBIs while finishing third in runs scored (53).
- His 18 home runs is second on the single season record list behind teammate Anthony Vivian's 19 a year ago.
- Seaman's 74 RBIs ranked first in the WIAC.
- Tied the single game record for home runs when he hit three against UW-Oshkosh on April 13.
- Seaman was named a WIAC First Team All-Conference selection.
Chris VandenHeuvel, junior of Neenah (Appleton Xavier), Outfielder, ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Region, D3baseball.com Second Team All-Region
- This is the first time VandenHeuvel has earned all-region honors from either organization.
- Starting all 52 games this season, VandenHeuvel led the Eagle offense all season as he finished with a .392 batting average.
- Led the Eagles with 85 hits, 68 runs scored, three triples and a .472 on base percentage.
- He also ranked third in doubles (14) and RBIs (55) while finishing fourth in home runs (10).
- A First Team All-WIAC selection, VandenHeuvel led the WIAC in hits with 84.
Anthony Vivian, junior of Dodgeville (H.S.), Outfielder, D3baseball.com Second Team All-Region
- This is the second consecutive season that Vivian has been named to the D3baseball.com All-Region team.
- Vivian started all 46 games he played in this season finished the year hitting .343.
- After setting the single season home run record a year go, Vivian hit another 12 this season to sit third on the all-time home run list with 36.
- He led the team in slugging % (.663) while finishing second in doubles with 16.
- Vivian was recognized by the WIAC as an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection.
Nate Witte, junior of Woodbury, MN (East Ridge), Outfielder, ABCA/Rawlings ThirdTeam All-Region
- This is the first ABCA/Rawlings all-region honor for Witte.
- Witte started all 52 games in center field for the Eagles and finished the year with a .343 batting average.
- A WIAC Honorable Mention All-Conference selectioin, Witte led the WIAC in stolen bases with 24.
- Witte also finished with 72 hits, eight home runs, 14 doubles, 62 runs scored and 46 RBIs.
- In the Eagles NCAA Regional win over Bethel, Witte finished 3-for-5, with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases.
