Jessesski and Peterson Win Titles at NCAA Qualifier

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field squad hosted a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Qualifier Thursday night at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.  No team scores were recorded. The Eagles' Max Jessesski and Jacob Peterson earned individual titles Thursday with Jessesski capturing the 200-meter dash (21.87) and Peterson the 1,500-meter run (3:49.31). 

UW-L also won the 4x100-meter relay (40.52) with David Sikorski, Alex Koenen, Isaac Vazquez and Troy Brooks

Sikorski placed second (10.68) and Brooks fifth (10.74) in the 100-meter dash while Koenen was fourth (22.14) in the 200-meter dash. Nick Tehan finished eighth (48.49) in the 400-meter dash.

Eric Smits was fifth (1:52.56) and Jaime Bottcher seventh (1:52.86) in the 800-meter run while Jerry Kerska finished second (3:49.49), David Stilin fifth (3:50.08) and Tom Linner ninth (3:52.63) in the 1,500-meter run.

In the 110-meter hurdles, UW-L's Joe DeRosier was third (14.81), Adam Nichols fourth (14.82) and Dan Otto seventh (15.13). Alex Jelich finished second (53.15) in the 400-meter hurdles.

In the field events, the Eagles' Brett Davis tied for second (23-9 1/2) in the long jump while Christopher Haase was eighth (22-5). Davis also tied for third (47-1 1/2) in the triple jump with Cy Badertscher finishing sixth (45-6 1/4) and Julian Greenup seventh (44-2). 

Jeffrey Hill placed third (15-7 3/4) in the pole vault while Gary Trkula and Rob Rohe tied for fifth (15-1 3/4). 

John Cooper was fourth (190-8) in the hammer throw with Grant Havard seventh (186-3). Cooper was also fifth (156-5) in the discus while Ben Tenpas finished ninth (148-3).

UW-L returns to action Thursday, May 23 hosting the NCAA Division III Championships.
