Naperville, Ill. - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field squad competed at the North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier Friday night at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. No team scores were recorded, but UW-L's
Andrew Rohlman captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:05.72).
Rohlman's time places him eighth on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Honor Roll. He entered Friday's event ranked 31st (9:19.49) on the NCAA III Honor Roll.
In other action Friday, UW-L's
Adam Nichols placed third (14.89) and
Joe DeRosier fourth (15.11) in the 110-meter hurdles. Nichols entered the competition 21st (14.75) on the NCAA III Honor Roll while DeRosier was tied for 19th (14.74).
The Eagles had three competitors in the 800-meter run Friday at North Central.
Eric Smits placed 13th (1:54.37),
Bruce Schmitz 15th (1:54.64) and
Jamie Bottcher 16th (1:54.68). Heading into the 800-meter run, Smits was 25th (1:52.55) and Bottcher 31st (1:52.86) on the NCAA III Honor Roll.
The top-20 individuals and top-16 relays on the NCAA III Honor Roll advance to the national championships. The final list of national qualifiers will be made available Sunday, May 19.
UW-L returns to action Thursday, May 23 hosting the NCAA Division III Championships at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
