Madison, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's tennis team improved to 11-4 on the season with a 7-2 victory over Carthage College (Wis.) Sunday afternoon at the Cherokee Country Club. It is the Eagles' seventh straight win. Carthage falls to 4-3 on the season.
UW-L won four of the six singles matches.
Kevin McMillen defeated Jeff Lotz., Jr. at No. 1 (3-6, 6-4, 10-8) while
Nick Skanavis beat Juan Robles at No. 4 (6-1, 6-2). The Eagles'
Travis Murphy defeated Brian Howes at No. 5 (7-6, 6-3) and
Dante Pitera defeated Tom Klassman at No. 6 (6-4, 6-4).
Carthage recorded its wins at No. 2 singles as Alex Boomgarden defeated
Vic Mirasola (7-5, 6-4) and at No. 3 with Ryan Jump beat
Tony Mirasola (6-2, 7-6).
The Eagles swept the three doubles matches. McMillen/
Stefan DeLong beat Lotz Jr.,/Boomgarden at No. 1 (8-5);
Tony Mirasola/Pitera defeated Conor Moon/Brandon Curtis at No. 2 (8-5) and
Vic Mirasola/
Alex Brost beat Jump/Howes at No. 3 (9-7).
UW-L returns to action Saturday, March 16 versus Colorado College at 2 p.m. (Central) in Orlando, Florida.
