Chelsea Hoff of
Middleton (H.S.) has been selected the 2010 CoSIDA/
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® of the Year for the College Division Women's At-Large Team. She is the second student-athlete in school history to earn the Academic All-America® of the Year award, joining senior wrestler
Dan Laurent of
Mishicot (H.S.) who was named the Academic All-America® of the Year for the College Division Men's At-Large Team earlier this week. Hoff is the first female to earn the recognition.
Hoff, named to the CoSIDA/
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® First Team for the second straight year in 2010, maintains a 4.00 grade point average while majoring in exercise sport science-fitness pre-physical therapy.
The CoSIDA/
ESPN The Magazine Academic America® At-Large Team is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The at-large team includes fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
The college division includes National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and III, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and two-year institutions.
Named the 2010 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Scholar-Athlete for women's swimming & diving, Hoff is a nine-time member of UW-L's Dean's List and two-time selection to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
She was named the WIAC Female Swimmer of the Meet at the conference championships for the third straight season in 2010. Hoff won the 50 freestyle and 100 and 200 backstroke at the WIAC Championships this year as well as being a member of the Eagles' first-place 200 and 400 freestyle relays and 200 medley relay. She was also the second-place 400 medley relay.
Hoff won nine individual and 11 relay conference titles during her career at UW-L.
She finished her career with 18 swimming NCAA Division III All-America honors, including six in 2010. Hoff earned seven career individual All-America awards, including a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke and fifth-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle at this year's national meet. She was second in the 100 backstroke in 2008.
She also earned 11 relay national All-America awards.
Hoff holds four individual and four relay records at UW-L as well as three individual and four relay records at the WIAC Championships.
