Carthage College (Wis.) 8, UW-La Crosse 1
Kenosha, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's tennis team dropped its regular-season finale 8-1 to Carthage College Saturday afternoon at the Eastside Tennis & Fitness Club. The Eagles fall to 18-6 on the season. The Red Men are now 13-7 and ranked 15th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region.
Carthage took all six singles matches Saturday with UW-L. Jack Schirio defeated
Nick Piotrowski at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0); Sammy Ramoni defeated
Joey Van Lieshout at No. 2 (7-5, 6-1) and Jeff Lotz defeated
Nathan Fekete at No. 3 (6-2, 6-4).
The Red Men's Matt Whiteside earned the win at No. 4 singles over
Steven Quiring (7-5, 6-3) while J.T. Delk defeated
Paul Vickers at No. 5 (6-2, 7-6) and Alex McLean defeated
Taylor Schliewe at No. 6 (6-2, 6-1).
UW-L earned its win in the dual with a victory at No. 2 doubles at Fekete/Quiring beat Schiro/Andy Schwenke (8-3).
Carthage won the other two doubles matches. Ramoni/Lotz defeated Piotrowski/Van Lieshout at No. 1 (8-4) and Whiteside/Delk beat
Sam Talarczyk/
Jon Mahvi at No. 3 (8-4).
