Andrew Haass of
Mayville (H.S.) has been named the Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete and selected to the 2009-10 WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Mane led UW-L with 22.3 points per game in 2009-10, including scoring in double figures in 24 of 25 games. He is currently tied for first in scoring in the WIAC. He missed the Eagles' WIAC Tournament First Round game versus UW-Superior with an injury. His 557 points this year ranks second in single-season school history.
Larry Halverson scored a school record 629 points in 1976-77. Mane scored a season-high 35 points in UW-L's 86-78 win at Mary Hardin-Baylor University (Texas) Dec. 30 and scored at least 25 points in nine different contests. He has scored in double figures in 63 of 76 career games at UW-L, including at least 20 points in 38 contests.
In his last six games of the season, Mane averaged 26.0 points while shooting 41.5% (17-of-41) from three-point range. He hit the game-winning jumper with :00.5 remaining in UW-L's 73-71 win at UW-River Falls Feb. 17 and made the game-winning three-point field goal at the buzzer in the Eagles' 62-59 victory at city-rival Viterbo University (Wis.) Nov. 24. Mane scored UW-L's final 13 points against the V-Hawks.
Fourth in career scoring at UW-L with 1,429 points, Mane ranks second in school history in three-point field goals attempted (498) and third in three-point field goals made (183). He is also fourth in career field goals attempted (1,228) and sixth in career field goals made (523). Mane ranks first in career free throw shooting at UW-L at 87.7% (200-of-228).
Named to the 2007-08 All-WIAC Honorable Mention Team, Mane shot 40.0% (64-of-160) from three-point range and 91.5% (75-of-82) at the free throw line this season. He currently leads the conference in free throw shooting. He led the Eagles in three-point field goals made and attempted as well as free throw shooting. Mane averaged 2.9 rebounds per game and led UW-L with 48 assists in 2009-10.
Stratton earned his second straight All-WIAC Honorable Mention accolade with his selection this season. He was second for UW-L in scoring in 2009-10 with 15.0 points per game, which ranks seventh in the WIAC. Stratton scored in double figures in 19 of 26 contests, including a season-high 26 points in UW-L's 98-89 loss at UW-Superior Feb. 6 and in the Eagles' 88-76 win over fifth-ranked UW-Stevens Point Feb. 20. He averaged 19.4 points in the last five games of the year.
He shot 37.4% (40-of-107) from three-point range in 2009-10, ranking second on the team in three-point field goals made and attempted. Stratton shot 82.4% (84-of-102) at the free throw line, leading UW-L in free throws made and attempted. He ranks eighth in the conference in free throw shooting.
A transfer from Carroll University (Wis.), Stratton scored in double figures in 37 of 51 career games at UW-L, including 14 contests with at least 20 points. He finished with a career-high 35 points in the Eagles' 78-68 at UW-Superior last season. Stratton ranks seventh in career free throw shooting at UW-L at 84.1% (164-of-195) and shot 40.3% (89-of-221) overall from three-point range.
Haass is the sixth player in school history and fifth in the last seven years to earn the WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award. A sport administration major with a 3.90 grade point average, Haass is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and has been recognized on UW-L's Dean's List.
A team captain this year, Haass was also named to the 2009-10 WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. He averaged 5.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season while shooting 54.3% (50-of-92) from the field. Haass set career-highs in points (20) and rebounds (12) in UW-L's WIAC Tournament First Round game against UW-Superior.
Haass is a member of UW-L's Winner's Council and the Fitness and Sport Management Club. He has served as a volunteer for at-risk children and the WIAC Food Drive.
UW-L finished 17-9 overall in 2009-10, including 9-7 in the WIAC.
