WIAC Championships
Colfax, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country placed fifth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships Saturday afternoon at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. The Eagles finished with 103 points. UW-Stevens Point won the title with 60 points.
UW-Platteville placed second (63 points) followed by UW-Oshkosh (84), UW-Whitewater (98), UW-La Crosse (103), UW-Eau Claire (117), UW-Stout (167) and UW-River Falls (219).
Sean Harrington led UW-L with a 13th-place finish overall Saturday, running the 8,000-meter course in 25:36.79. He earns All-WIAC Second Team honors.
The Eagles'
Zach Wilhelmy placed 17th overall (25:53.05) while
Brian Shonat was 20th (25:57.67). Wilhelmy and Shonat both earn All-WIAC Honorable Mention recognition.
Carlton Folster finished 26th (26:09.03),
David Stilin 27th (26:09.30),
Phill Hernandez 30th (26:10.82),
Alex Ciesielski 31st (26:12.43),
Jacob Peterson 32nd (26:12.59) and
Bobby Laabs 39th (26:24.89).
Other finishers for UW-L included
Andrew Rohlman 44th (26:29.43),
Tyler Heinz 68th (27:03.65) and
Thomas Reader 82nd (27:41.77).
Jason Garvens of UW-Platteville won the conference title (24:44.88). A total of 100 runners competed.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, Nov. 13 at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional in Rock Island, Illinois. Action gets started at 11 a.m.
