UW-L Falls at UW-Stevens Point in WIAC Dual

- The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team fell 124-119 at UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon in a WIAC dual. The Eagles' Chelsea Hoff, Katelyn Hartung, Danielle Ellingson and Dayna Johnson each won swimming titles while Samantha Koch and Rachel LaValley swept the diving competition.

Hoff won two events Saturday, taking the 50 (23.94) and 100 (52.69) freestyles while Hartung captured the 200 freestyle (1:56.84). Hartung was also second in the 500 freestyle (5:21.13).

Ellingson won the 200 I.M. (2:14.30) and placed second in the 200 backstroke (2:15.94) while Johnson was first in the 200 butterfly (2:16.01), second in hte 200 breaststroke (2:33.34) and fourth in the 200 I.M. (2:17.45).

In diving, Koch captured the one-meter competition (224.80 points) and LaValley the three-meter (238.80). LaValley was also third in the one-meter (222.05). The Eagles' Shannon Doyle was second in the one-meter (222.15) and three-meter (222.85) competition.

Other top finishes in the pool included Taylor Smith placing second in the 200 butterfly (2:19.20). Jennifer Bryson was third in the 200 backstroke (2:17.50) and fourth in the 1,000 freestyle (11:23.99) while Abby Diehl finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:59.70) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (55.47). The Eagles' Brittany Erb was third in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.77), Brianna Peyer fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.63) and Rachel Howard fifth in the 1,000 freestyle (11:30.51).

UW-L's 400 freestyle relay of Hartung, Ellingson, Peyer and Diehl finished second (3:37.32) while the 400 medley relay of Elisabeth Misener, Shannon Carlin, Colleen Tierney and Hannah Mueller were third (4:20.47).

UW-L returns to action Saturday, Feb. 6 hosting UW-Whitewater at 1 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.
