Mane Leads UW-L in Win at Mary Hardin-Baylor

scored a season-high 35 points as the UW-La Crosse men's basketball team earned an 86-78 victory at Mary Hardin-Baylor University Wednesday night the Cru Holiday Classic. The Eagles improve to 11-2 on the season while the Cru fall to 6-3.

Mane finished 12-of-23 from the field, including seven-of-10 from three-point range, and hit all four of his free throw attempts for his 35 points.

Trevor Stratton added 11 points for UW-L while Al Chery and Andrew Haass each scored eight.

Mary Hardin-Baylor raced out to a 17-6 lead with 13:19 left in the first half. The Cru later led 25-15 with 8:22 left when the Eagles went on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 27-24. UW-L later trailed 33-26, but finished the half on a 9-2 run to force a 35-35 tie.

The Eagles led 47-46 with 15:48 remaining and 55-51 with 13:13 left. UW-L went on a 10-2 run to lead 65-55.

The Cru trailed 79-66 with 3:25 left after Haass made a three-pointer, but could get no closer than five points at 83-78 with :18 remaining. The Eagles made seven-of-eight free throw attempts in the final 1:40.

UW-L shot 52.7% from the field, including 63.0% (17-of-27) in the second half. The Eagles shot 50.0% (10-of-20) from three-point range in the game while shooting 81.8% (18-of-22) at the free throw line.

Cory Degner had seven points and team-high seven rebounds for UW-L.

Theo Ard led Mary Hardin-Baylor with 26 points and seven rebounds while Dean Pele finished with 14 points.

The Cru shot 57.1% from the field, including 25.0% (three-of-12) from three-point range. Mary Hardin-Baylor shot 79.2% (19-of-24) at the line.
