Aaron Johnson of
Wisconsin Dells (H.S.) have been named to the D3football.com All-Region Team. Winney has been selected to the All-West Region Second Team while Johnson was named to the All-Region Third Team.
Winney was named to the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) First Team. He started all 10 games this season for the Eagles, finishing fifth on the team in tackles with 40. Winney recorded 32 solo tackles.
He led UW-L with nine pass break-ups and three forced fumbles in 2009 while recording interceptions versus Missouri University of Science & Technology Sept. 26 and UW-Stevens Point Oct. 24. Winney finished his career with seven interceptions, 23 pass break-ups and 122 tackles, including 95 solo.
Named to the 2008 All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team, Winney tied his career-high with eight tackles against Missouri University of Science & Technology this season.
Johnson earned his second career All-WIAC recognition with his second team honor this year at linebacker. He was selected to the 2008 All-WIAC Honorable Mention Defense. Starting all 10 games, Johnson led UW-L with 69 tackles this season, including a team-best 53 solo. He had a career-high 15 tackles at UW-River Falls Oct. 17 and finished with nine tackles against UW-Stout Oct. 31 and seven tackles versus UW-Oshkosh Oct. 3 and UW-Platteville Oct. 10.
Recording a team-high 13.5 tackles for loss, Johnson had 4.0 tackles for loss against UW-Platteville and 3.0 versus Missouri University of Science & Technology Sept. 26.
Johnson ends his career with 182 tackles, including 109 solo. He also had 23.0 career tackles for loss.
UW-L finished 5-5 overall and 2-5 in the WIAC in 2009.
