William F. Loushine
Athlete: 1939-1943

   
    William Loushine dove into collegiate swimming competition and came out a champion. He began swimming competitively in his native, Chisholm, MN, during junior high school. Loushine continued the sport in college from 1939-43 and eventually coached high school swimmers. He was a captain of the squad his junior and senior years and collected the highest total points in swimming for three consecutive years, earning the runner-up spot in the other.

    Loushine was diving conference champion every year in college except in 1943 when no meet was held because of World War II. He also played basketball three years, earning letters each season. Loushine taught and coached in his hometown from 1946 until retiring in 1982.
