Athlete: 1919-1922
Webb Shultz was the first baseball captain in 1922 when baseball became a major sport at La Crosse Teachers College. He earned three letters in baseball and two each in football and basketball at La Crosse. Also, he earned the same number of letters at Ripon College. In 1920, Schultz was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers and in 1924, was a member of the Chicago White Sox.
After teaching and coaching in Northern Michigan for three years, Schultz became Physical Education Director for Delavan Junior and Senior High Schools, a position he held for 39 years. During those years Schultz coached the baseball team for 16 years. He compiled a combined record of 485-210-3. He was previously inducted to the Wisconsin High School Hall of Fame.
