Antczak excelled in cross country and track in high school during the late 1960s. That path continued at UW-L when he participated in the two sports in 1977 and 1978, where he helped teams run to conference titles--cross ountry and indoor track in '77, and outdoor track in '78. Antczak ran well off campus, too. He qualified for the U.S. Olympic marathon trials in 1976, 1980 and 1984, and finished among the top 12 in national marathons. He set two national marathon records--2:22:26, a meet record at the NAIA National Track Championships in 1978 and 2:15:28, a course record at the Houston Marathon, the USATF National Championships, in 1979.

Since earning a master's at UW-L in 1988, Antczak has coached track at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. since 1992, he has taught and was head men's and women's cross country coach at UW-Platteville. He also was university's head men's and womens' track and field coach from 1992-96.
