Terese Sheridan was the university's all-time leading scorer in women's basketball with 1,590 points and she continues to excel in hoops. The Fond du Lac native played basketball for four years at La Crosse. Those teams took the conference title all four years and the regional title two of those years.
After graduation, Sheridan taught and coached at Xavier Higher School in Appleton and Ohio State, where she earned a master's. She returned to UW-L in 1984 to teach and coach women's basketball. In 1988, she was named assistant women's basketball coach at the Wichita State University of Kansas. In 1989, she began as assistant women's basketball coach at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
