Athlete: 1920-21 & 1925
A La Crosse native, Russell Rippe was a star performer in football, basketball, track and baseball for the La Crosse Normal School. He is professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he served as coordinator of the undergraduate program for the men's physical education department. He retired in 1969 following 47 years of teaching and coaching Rippe was inducted into the Madison Sports Hall of Fame in 1979.
