Roland Christensen

    Roland Christensen came to UW-La Crosse in 1960 and since that time had been heavily involved in the UW-L Athletic program as the defensive coordinator for the UW-La Crosse football team. Before Roland came to La Crosse, he coached various sports at various schools. He has coached and taught at Vandalia, Ill., Streator, Ill., and Crystal Lake, Iowa. During his stay at those schools, Roland coached baseball for four years, football for six years, basketball for six years and wrestling for two years.

    Roland obtained his bachelor's degree from Iowa State Teachers College in 1950. There he went out for football, but injured his right knee before he saw action in a game. Roland obtained his doctorate from Oklahoma State University in 1967. He was a professor in the Department of Mathematics at UW-La Crosse from 1960-1992.
