Patti Franckowiak threw herself into the national record book as part of the indoor track and field team. Franckowiak set a national record with her 56-6 ½ throw of the 20-pound weight at the 1999 NCAA Division III Championships. She won three career national titles, including the 20-pound weight throw at the 1998 and 1999 indoor meet and the discus throw at the 1998 outdoor championships.
Franckowiak, a four-year letter winner on both the indoor and outdoor teams at UW-L from 1995-99, was a 13-time All-America (four indoor; nine outdoor). She captured seven conference titles and was named to the All-WIAC Centennial Track & Field Team in 2012.
Franckowiak graduated in 1999 with a major in biology.
