Laverne Marie Uvodich
Athlete: 1972-1976
Badminton and volleyball were the main sports for Laverne Uvodich during college. She placed second, third and fourth in badminton national doubles competition during her sophomore, junior and senior years respectively. During the '75-'76 season, she won the singles consolation title.
She took all-conference first team honors in both singles and doubles her senior years. On the volleyball court, Uvodich helped the team take the conference and state titles twice. She took all-conference second team honors her senior year. After graduating, Uvodich began teaching and coaching in the Lombard (Ill.) School District . As varsity volleyball coach, she has led her teams to an overall 180-52 record; the '90 squad reached the state's elite eight. During her 16 years there, her other coaching duties have included varsity badminton, JV volleyball, frosh girl's soccer, and boys and girls volleyball, basketball and track in the junior high.
