For Laura (Waterhouse) Ball, the swimming and diving team became part of her family — and it included family.  Ball says the 1998 team members trained so hard together they became an extended family that went on to win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) championship.  One of her teammates was Julie (Waterhouse) Regan — her sister.  Ball earned four letters in swimming and diving from 1996-2000.

She won 10 individual conference titles, including the 1,650 freestyle in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000.  Ball is one of four swimmers in conference history to win four 1,650 freestyle crowns.  She was also on three first-place relays at the WIAC Championships.

Ball earned nine National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III All-America awards, including a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1997.

She graduated in 2000, majoring in art.
