Ken Hollub played and coached football at La Crosse State Teachers College. The Oshkosh native helped lead the Indians to the Cigar Bowl win over Valparaiso on New Year's Day, 1951. A three-year starter at quarterback, Hollub was team captain and earned all-conference honors his senior year. He served as an assistant coach at La Crosse from 1952-54.
