    Kari (Motz) DeLong vaulted from her success in gymnastics as an athlete to a coach. DeLong was a member of the 1997 and 1999 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association championship teams and won the all-around national championship her freshman year after overcoming a torn ACL.
    After graduating in 2001 with a bachelor's in physical education and an adaptive physical education concentration with a coaching emphasis, she served as an assistant coach with the team from 2000-01 and 2004-09.
