Karen Toburen, a Dean's List student named to Ratom and Who's Who, was on the basketball, field hockey, softball, track and volleyball teams as an undergraduate. Graduated in 1976, she returned to teach and coach in 1970. In her four seasons as field hockey coach, she compiled a 132-27-8 record and was named a Collegiate All-Star Coach each year. Nine of 11 of her players in 1972 and 10 of 11 in 1972 were named to All-Star teams. Since 1982, Toburen has gained national and international experience in athletic training, working with the USA Junior National and USA All-Stars and USA Select teams. At the international level, her training expertise has taken her to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Taipei, Taiwan. In 1986, she traveled with the USA National team to the Goodwill Games in Moscow and the World Championship in Vilinus, Russia and Moscow.
