John Thomsen
Athlete: 1956-1960
John Thomsen learned from his La Crosse football coaches that winning was important, but he also learned that it wasn't the only thing. Thomsen took that philosophy with him in his 35-year career of teaching and coaching in high school throughout Wisconsin. Thomsen played on the gridiron from 1957-59, serving as team tri-captain his senior year. The team that year lost only one game. He was a NAIA All-American and All-conference guard, and was invited to play in the All-American Bowl Game Jan.1, 1960. Thomsen, '60, taught physical education and coached at three high schools.
