Athlete: 1959-1963

    John Farwell was on the university's championship gymnastics teams from 1959-1963, when the team was a perennial power in the Midwest. Along with gymnastics, Farwell played football from 1959-1961 and was on the the swim team in 1961, when he was named champion in diving.

    Farwell was president of the Letterman's Club, and took his love of the sport to Manitowoc's Lincoln High School where he taught physical education and coached gymnastics and baseball from 1963-69. Then he went to Augustana College, where he was athletic director, physical education chair and coached gymnastics, football, swimming and track. He retired in 1999.
