John E. Stanek
Athlete: 1972-1975
Football was a major part of John Stanek's college days from 1972-1975. Stanek was a four-year starter on the gridiron. Three of those years--'73, '74, and '75-- the team captured conference titles. Individually, Stanek was names all-conference twice, all-distrct and to the All-American Second Team. He also set a record for career tackles at 482, a record that still stood at he beginning of the 2001 season.
Stanek is a 1972 graduate of La Crosse Aquinas High School, where he played football, wrestled and was on the track and field team.
