Joan Kapellas
Athlete: 1980-1984
Swimming played an important part of Joan Kapellas' life during college--and it still does. The 1988 graduate with a major in psychology earned all-conference and All-American honors each of the four years she swam from 1980-84. She was a conference champion in the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter butterfly. She set university records from the two as well.
Kapellas maitains her interest in swimming by coaching the La Crosse Central High School girls' team and the La Crosse School District cooperative boys' team. During summer, she works for Wisconsin/Minnesota Swim Camps.
