Harris Grabow

    The name Harris Grabow is synonymous with athletics in Watertown, WI, where Grabow taught and coached for nearly four decades. A letter winner in football, basketball and track at La Crosse State, Grabow was quarterback of the 1942 conference champion football team and captain of the 1942-43 basketball team.

     He was named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities in 1942. Returning to his native Watertown in 1946, Grabow taught physical science, general science, physical education and health. He was an assistant football coach and head coach for both basketball and baseball. He was inducted in the Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1979 and has been honored by the Wisconsin Coaches Association for outstanding service.

    Grabow became athletic director in 1966 and served on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association from 1978-83. In 1981, his outstanding work in athletic administration was recognized with his selection as Wisconsin's Athletic Director of the Year.

    A charter member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, he received the group's Distinguished Service Award in 1982.
