University of Wisconsin La Crosse Athletics

    University of Minnesota women's track and field coach Gary Wilson is among the most respected coaches in the country. He has shaped the member of his track and field and cross country squads to be all-around people, stressing academics and athletics. Wilson built a Division III powerhouse at UW-L, where he coached women's teams to three consecutive national track and field championships and one national cross country championship. UW-L finished in the top five at cross country nationals in six of Wilson's eight years with the program. He also coached the men's track and field team at La Crosse for seven years, while coaching men's and women's track teams in 1982 and '83. In all, his teams won 21 conference championships.
