Athlete: 1934-1938
A star athlete and team captain in track, cross country and swimming, Silvernagle was born in Sweden and grew up in Maistons, Wisconsin. His distinguished high school teaching and coaching careers have brought him national acclaim.
His swim teams won 12 Minnesota state titles and his Rochester John Marshall swimmers took 15 conference titles in 17 years, winning 87 consecutive dual meets and seven straight state championships. Silvernagle has coached 60 All-American high school swimmers.
