University of Wisconsin La Crosse Athletics

   Athlete: 1979-1977

     Four years of badminton and track and field, along with a year of field hockey, kept Edith Madsen active while attending college. Madsen has kept that busy schedule in her professional career as a physical education teacher and coach.

    At La Crosse, Madsen was a member of the WIAC champion badminton team from 1974-1977 and track and field team in 1977. She competed nationally in both and set the university's javelin record in 1977. That year, she and former Roonies coach Janet Wigglesworth ranked fourth nationally in badminton doubles.
