    DuWayne "Dewey" Stendahl was an offensive end and kicker on WSU-La Crosse football teams form 1966-1969. He was an all-conference end in 1968 and a member of the NAIA District 14 top team in both 1968 and 1969. As A senior, he set a NAIA single season field goal record with nine successes and was named to the NAIA All-American Football team as a kicker.

As first baseman on the 1969 NAIA District 14 baseball team, Stendahl was also named All-Conference in his position. Following graduation in 1970, he signed as a free agent for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He signed with the Washington Redskins in 1971. For three seasons beginning in 1972, he was a kicker for the Madison Mustangs and earned All-Leage honors.

Stendahl has brought his playing experience to teaching and coaching. Since 1971, he has taught physical education education in the Middleton-Cross Plains (WI) area schools. He has been an assistant football coach, junior varsity basketball coach and coached baseball and golf there. He received "Teacher of Teachers" Award from UW-Madison for 1985-86. Stendahl is a member of the Lions Club and the Middleton Baseball Commission.
